Pet Therapy: Fur for All
Karen Gerth, Founder, and Director Keystone Pet Enhanced Therapy Services (KPETS)
This presentation will share various ways that therapy dogs make a difference in all settings and for all ages with all types of needs. Karen will discuss what makes a therapy pet as opposed to a service animal or emotional support pet. She will also review what is required to become a therapy team, how to find a therapy group in your area, and what you need to know to create a win-win situation for all (handler, pet, and client). Karen is a resident of Lancaster County with a passion for her therapy dogs. She found her calling 20 years ago when a service dog in training was released from service. Karen knew this precious golden would make a fantastic therapy dog so she started a non-profit, KPETS, to train on her own and provide this much-needed service.
